Phil Schanely Interactive Design and Web Development
Welcome! I’m glad you’ve stopped by. Here you can see some of my work, learn a little more about me, and find some ways to get in touch.
A small business website powered by WordPress
I recently completed an MFA in Interactive Design and Game Development from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). In my thesis I developed a process for using the new CSS Grid Module to create effective layouts while also still using semantic markup. View my thesis site and three demo sites using the links here: (you may need to enable CSS Grid)
A workload management tool for creative teams
An assessment mapping tool for higher education

I’ve explored a number of interests in my short time on this planet. In high school I hoped to study music and become a composer. In college, I danced between psychology and Graphic Design, but landed on a B.A. in the latter. After college, I worked with a Web Developer who sparked a fire in me to learn more about the web.
Before long, I sought a new job where I was able to focus on developing as a web designer/developer. There I had the opportunity to experiment, learn, and even to teach. In spring of 2017 I completed an M.F.A. in Interactive Design and Game Development. Overall, I've developed a hunger to learn in a field that is always changing.
Now I live in Cedarville, Ohio where I’ve been teaching and working on the side to develop web applications and a few small website projects. I have had the fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the development of budding professionals, use my skills as an interactive designer to improve University operations, and continue to develop through scholarly and professional development activities.
My wife and I have two children and enjoy hiking, traveling, photography, and discovering good eats along the way.
